Description
- The Benefits Coordinator is accountable for independently performing a full range of complex professional duties relating to human resources benefits administration, including but not limited to, employee benefits and retirement, health and wellness, employee counseling, FMLA administration, unemployment insurance and workers' compensation administration, workforce and organizational planning, regarding benefits administration.
Serves as primary contact for plan vendors and third party administrators. Determines the best plan options by working with the third party administrators. Coordinates transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration. Works effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly. Investigates discrepancies and provides information in non-routine situations. Responsible to reconcile billing information with the Accounting Department.

Typical Qualifications
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are required;
- Capable of effective planning and priority setting;
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines;
- Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on the proposals;
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Colleague are preferred;
- Knowledge of benefit contract language;
- Considerable knowledge of human resources administration including benefits administration and retirement systems;
- Knowledge of applicable relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations;
- Knowledge of labor relations principles and procedures;
- Considerable interpersonal skills;
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
- Ability to read and interpret laws, statutes, regulations, policies, and collective bargaining agreements;
- Ability to analyze and evaluate employee benefits statements, other employee records and reports, and benefit claims and cost data;
- Ability to utilize various databases systems for retirement and benefits management;
- Ability to analyze complex problems quickly and determine effective solutions;
- Ability to counsel employees;
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
